SAFE & WARM: DOWN
Down is a layer of fine feathers found under the exterior feathers of winter fowl, offering excellent thermal properties and unique lofting characteristics which retains heat and seals out cold air to achieve the best insulation. Down provides approximately three times the warmth per ounce as synthetic insulators.
All of our down combines the best Pure Canadian Processed Down to achieve the highest insulation and goes through a rigorous process of 15 washes and is then treated with an antibacterial process to ensure that it’s hypoallergenic.
Outdoor Survival Canada coats obtain all their down from ethically sound licensed dealers and does not support live-plucking methods. Every product is made with 100% down that meets or exceeds the standards set by the Government of Canada.
ETHICALLY-SOURCED FUR
Our only choice of fur is Coyote for its superior warmth capabilities and endurance, a perfect complement to the harshest of winter climates.
We are sensitive to the ethical issues involving the fair use of fur. Outdoor Survival Canada only uses ethically-sourced fur acquired through humane methods.
COMMUNITY
Right To Play is an international humanitarian organization that
uses sport and play programs to improve health, develop life
skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some
of the most disadvantaged areas of the world.
“Right To Play recently launched a pilot program with First Nations
communities in very remote parts of Canada to use sport and play
to improve the lives of children and their communities. Our work
took me to the wonderful community of Sandy Lake First Nation
in December.
Sandy Lake is a remote, fly-in Oji-Cree community located on the
Severn River system approximately 600 km north of Thunder Bay,
Ontario. It was –35˚Celsius when I arrived and the coat provided
by OSC was invaluable in keeping me warm and comfortable as I
travelled the community to meet with our incredibly hospitable partners.”
